Georgia in the Spring

Okay…. The first post.

Today’s weather in Marietta was a high of 80, sunny in the morning, storms in the evening. Not too bad after such a nasty winter, except for one thing… Or rather, 8024… That is the pollen count today. Now, for those of you who have never experienced a pollen count in this range, it is hideous.

The scale on which the pollen count is measured goes like this:

Pollen Count
Level
0-14
Low
15-89
Moderate
90-1499
High
1500+
Extremely High

So, when you have a count of 8024, you are sitting at more than five times extremely high. Let’s think about what this means, just for a minute. 1. Everything outside is coated yellow. The car, the mailbox, the porch, the road, etc… All yellow. 2. If you foolishly left your windows open last night, like me, the inside of your house is ALSO coated yellow. The comforter and pillows, the dishes left on the drying rack, the floors… Again, all yellow. It’s insidious! 3. If you go outside, your skin actually feels gritty and you can smell and sometimes even taste the pollen. Gross! 4. If you are like me, and totally allergic to almost every pollen imaginable, you sneeze, and wheeze, and your eyes itch.

Georgia in the spring, it ain’t for sissies!
